It took me a number of sleepless nights and represents a wealth of learning that I am already putting to use on new customs but I really think it was worth it! I took my skills to the new level on this one I hope you guys like him!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So everyone always says I have nice clean lines which is very much appreciated but I have taken this as a personal challange to better and diversify what I can do with a vinyl figure and have recently been sculpting a lot after seeing what guys on here can do! As you may have noticed my Mascots have been getting more and more elaborate so I have begun work on what is by far the most sculpted and difficult vinyl I have ever made.

I have plenty of new toys finished I am yet to post, about 6 but I will update you guys with my progress on this character until he is completed. Hope you enjoy the ride I am sure going to learn a lot and I will update with my experiences incase it helps anyone else in the future..... Here is where I am up to thus far.....

Image
First time sculpting teeth, happy with the result at this point, just used a plastic knife to carve in the detail and then some rubbing alcohol and a brush to smooth out the bumps of sculpey....

Image
So I have now added the eyes, eyelids and am starting to flesh out the bridge of the nose with layers. The eyes were a real challenge, I drew in grey led where they should be but getting them to be a nice shape was quite the task.... I rolled up a ball of sculpey and then cut it in half and flattened it out a touch so it wasnt quite in a circle anymore but still curved, seems to work pretty perfectly. I am going to stop saying first because its the first for basically everything....

What I did here was also cut off the ears of the munny, now I expected there to be a hole obviously but i wasnt sure what I was going to do to fill it. Instead of filling the Munny head with something as backing i put down a thin strip of sculpey at each side of the gap then put thin wire over it like a lattice and then sculpey over the top.

Image
Bridge of the nose is now done and I am starting to work on the pectorals and the right side of the face, experimenting with details as I go.....

I will get back to work on him tomorrow as this is a pet project and something I am doing for fun and to learn. If anyone can guess yet what the character is then I will be impressed lol.

Thanks everyone, hope you enjoy the thread!

Moulding is all done now, I added a lot more detail just to give it depth like scratches into the skin, the barnacles as well as a bunch moor reeds. Will update with progress painting photos, I am actually quite a bit into the painting process now but dont have flicks. Cheers

hey D love the work. just be careful on those seams by the cheek/eye and the reed ends. nothing kills a paintjob like seams.

Also, would you mind taking a spread of your tools id love to see what you're working with.

The seem was intentional and will be accentuated by a shadow, its there because its the Swamp Thing and he is essentially a mass of swamp debris. Thanks for the tips tho seems have killed me in he past for sure!!!

Will get a photo of the tools when I finish the custom!
