A simple little pair that I finished recently. Was asked by the client to incorporate her I "heart" music tattoo, along with a checkerboard pattern. The mid section was originally an orange fabric with a gold(ish) thread deep inside. Once painted black, the fabric was dyed, but the gold thread can still chine through at different angles. Not intentional I will admit, but it gives the shoes a neat appearance. Unfortunately this is not shown very well in photos.

I look forward to trying a checkerboard pattern again someday. I feel a more "manufactured" look can be acquired.

No tape for me. I cut a strip from a club flyer and used it as a makeshift paper ruler to pencil in the rough lines. Then painted it freehand. Originally I was going to do a base coat of white and paint in the grey squares, but then I changed my mind. I decided to minimize the thickness of paint that was going on the leather, and paint the white and grey without a base coat. End result was a lot more work, but in my opinion worth it in regards to cleanliness and durability.

i murder these base dunks.... LOOOOOOOOOOVE them.... the checker pattern is so clean, reminds me of LV.

I feel like they need something orange though to tie the tongue tag together with the whole shoe. If it were me, I'd done an orange midsole thread for that nice, simple accented touch.
