Swaves - The Batman AF1

Postby Swavey » Fri Aug 10, 2012 4:51 am

Earlier in the week I posted a very colorful, very "groovy" pair of Dunks for a customers daughter. She also had placed an order for a "simpler" pair of Batman Air Force 1's. As many of you know, my style often leans towards hard lined silhouette type images, so naturally I was excited to get this project under way. Two silhouettes were chosen to be placed on the heel panels, similar to the layout of The World AF1s I did a while back. For the first image I chose a statuesque shot of The Batman in a classic hero stance. The second image comes from the video game "Arkham City" and happens to be the background on the customers phone.

Hope you all like them

Well Swave...as always youve almost made me crap myself!! Those are HOT!!...i love silhouette pieces too but what I cant get my head around is how do u get such crisp sharp lines...like the utility belt without them gettin' blotchy or fat?...I guess it just comes with practice. Amazing work my friend...props!!

Glad you like em man!

If there is interest, I could make a vid/tutorial describing some of my "go-to" tips and tricks I use for achieving clean thin lines.

I'd be lying if I told you that part didn't stress me out a fair bit. Thanks for noticing, and thanks for the kind words.

I'm out of town till the 18th, but I'm really hoping to keep up a more constant work flow in the months to come.

I did lace them up with a pair of Batarangs, but the shape got lost in the black laces. I gave the customer a pair to lace up if he chose, but personally I didn't think they made a great contribution to the AF1, so left them out of the pics.

Glad to give you reason to emerge Jest3R! :D
